Success Story: KAREMBO JULIUS KATANA

For years, Karembo Julius Katana, a mother of eight, endured unimaginable hardship. After separating from her husband, she struggled alone to raise her children in a fragile shelter that exposed them to rain, snakes, and insecurity. Her daughters and son often slept outside, with the boy keeping watch to protect his sisters from harm.

Her dignity was eroded by the conditions she lived in, yet she never gave up hope. When construction began on her new home under the Homes of Hope program, Karembo broke down in tears of joy as she saw the roof being mounted — a powerful moment that touched everyone present.

Today, thanks to the partnership between Asante Aid and Shelter Equity (USA), Karembo’s family has received: 🏠 A safe, dignified house with separate bedrooms for the children and a sitting room to welcome visitors 🚽 A toilet and bathroom for privacy and sanitation 🔆 Solar installation for clean, reliable energy 🚲 A bicycle to ease transport and mobility 💧 Access to clean water for health and daily living

This transformation has restored dignity to Karembo and given her children a safe, hopeful environment to grow. Her story is a testament to the power of compassion and partnership in changing lives.
