At 55, Sidi Nzano Ponda carried the weight of unimaginable hardship. Abandoned by her husband, she struggled to raise her seven children and three orphaned grandchildren alone. Her small fish‑frying business earned barely $3 a day, just enough to buy food. Her home was so damaged that she used a giant umbrella indoors to shield her family from rain — a symbol of despair and survival.

Her life changed through the Homes of Hope program, in partnership with Shelter Equity (USA). Today, Sidi and her grandchildren live with dignity in a safe, secure home. Her family received: 🏠 A strong, dignified house 🚽 A toilet and bathroom for proper sanitation 🔆 Solar installation for clean, reliable energy 🚲 A bicycle for transport and mobility 💧 Access to clean water for health and daily living

The gift of a new home has renewed Sidi’s hope and given her grandchildren a safe place to grow, learn, and dream. What was once a life of despair has become a story of resilience, dignity, and transformation.

✨ Sidi’s journey reminds us that together, we are not just building houses — we are restoring dignity and creating futures filled with promise.
